SEPTEMBER BROWN BAG MEETINGS

ESTATE PLANNING and ADMINISTRATION

Wednesday, September 9, 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. at Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, 1111 Broadway, 19th Floor, Oakland.

Companion animals play a significant role in the life of many individuals. Often pets are treated as additional members of the family, and many clients wish to include provisions for the care of companion animals in their estate planning documents. This presentation by Veronica Cerruti, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, will cover a variety of estate planning options for individuals to ensure the short-term care of such animals in the event of the individual’s incapacity and the long term care of companion animals in the event of the individual's death. She will discuss California's Pet Trust statute, Probate Code § 15212, in detail.

RSVP REQUIRED BY 10AM SEPTEMBER 7. Email to admin@EBTEL.org with “September 9 Brown Bag RSVP” in the Subject line.

ELDER LAW, CONSERVATORSHIPS and GUARDIANSHIPS

Do you have senior clients who would like to remain living in their own homes but cannot safely do so without assistance from caregivers, doctors, nurses and/or social workers? Marvin Gibson from the Center for Elders Independence will be speaking about the PACE program. He will explain what PACE is, who is eligible and the services that your clients may be qualified to receive.

RSVP REQUIRED BY 10AM SEPTEMBER 14. Email to admin@EBTEL.org with “September 16 Brown Bag RSVP” in the Subject line.
